How to Get Michelle Obama's Signature Bob

Wednesday, January 21, 2009

I personally like Michelle Obama's signature bob. If you are a fan of her hairstyle as well, here are some tips to help you achieve "First Lady Hair," courtesy of celebrity hairstylist Yusef Williams. "Michelle has really great hair so you don't have to do a lot to it," he says. He recommends using Motions hair care products:

  1. Finding the right shampoo and conditioner for your hair type and needs is key to creating this look.“I like to use a shampoo and conditioner that are lightweight, but still help to lock in hair’s moisture,” says Yusef. Motions Weightless Shampoo and Motions Weightless After-Shampoo Conditioner are perfect for creating moisturized strands.
  2. Use Motions Heat Seeker Protecting Spray to protect your strands. Blow dry hair to create volume and lift at the roots. Go over the length of your hair with a flat iron to get a smooth finish.
  3. Add a sleek and elegant swooping side bang to give hair movement. I personally love doing this with my own hair. To keep your  look in place, rub a bit of light, non-greasy pomade, such as Motions Shine Enhancing Pomade for style control.

How Healthy Is Your Hair?

Tuesday, January 13, 2009

Find out if it’s Pantene-commercial worthy or if it should join Amy Winehouse in rehab
Quiz: How Healthy Is Your Hair?
Think your hair is healthy? The answer might surprise you. Take this quiz to find out the real health of your hair and get tips on how to nurse it back to a shiny, soft state.
I took the quiz and my hair is moderately damaged. I was advised to:
*Trim hair every six to eight weeks to remove split ends, and only shampoo when necessary.
*When exposed to sun or heat-styling tools, avoid further damage or dryness by using a heat-protectant spray or cream.
*Pamper hair by deep conditioning monthly and opting for a paddle brush instead of a hard bristle brush.

Editor's Note: A Change in Direction for Blaq Siren Hair

Saturday, January 10, 2009

Hi,
So I have finally decided to change the focus for Blaq Siren Hair. I will no longer be featuring my hair updates on this blog as times right now are really hectic. Hopefully, when things return to "normal", I can resume posting about my hair updates. However, for now, I will be featuring more sirens (read: celebrities and hairnistas) on BSH.
Don't hesitate to tell me what you think; I'd love to hear from all of you!
